Absolutely, in fact we strongly encourage parents-to-be to visit our office for a prenatal appointment. This is a great way to get acquainted with our office and our providers. During this visit, we will answer any questions that you have about our practice or your new child. This is no cost to parents.
Unfortunately as of 11/1/24 we will no longer be offering circumcisions. This is due to lack of reimbursement from insurance companies for this service. Our staff at the front will have an up to date list of places that you can have these done at.
Your child should not only see the pediatrician for an illness; it is also important to schedule well-child-care exams regularly, beginning in infancy. Also called well-care visits or checkups, these routine examinations provide the best opportunity for the doctor to observe the progress of your child's physical and mental growth and development; to counsel and teach parents; to detect problems through screening tests; to provide immunizations, and to get to know one another.
Well-care visits are strongly recommended as part of preventive pediatric care.
Well-child visits are also a good time for parents to raise questions and concerns about a child's development, behavior, nutrition, safety and overall well-being.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends this schedule for routine well-care visits:
And once every year thereafter for an annual health supervision visit that includes a physical exam as well as a developmental, behavioral, and learning assessment.
Immunizations have become a large point of discussion in our culture in the past few years, and as the discussion continues in the media and online, it’s often hard to decide what’s true or not. We realize it can be a difficult and emotional one for some parents. Your providers at Milestone Pediatrics believe very strongly in the importance of childhood immunizations, and to adhere to the immunization schedule recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). If you feel differently and do not wish to immunize your child according to the schedule or our approved alternate schedule, we may not be the right practice for you as we cannot risk transmitting a vaccine preventable disease or illness to an infant or immunocompromised child in our clinic. We are always happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have about childhood vaccinations.
You most certainly can choose when it comes to Well Child Checks and follow up on a condition/illness and, in fact, we prefer it that way. HOWEVER, in the event of an acute illness, injury, or other urgent appointment, our goal is to have you seen ASAP and that may just be with one of our other awesome providers. We can assure you that you will receive the same level of care and that we work as a team!
Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) that has earned either a Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). Nurse Practitioners have more authority than Registered Nurses and have similar responsibilities to that of a doctor. They can serve as a primary care or specialty care providers and typically focus their care on a specific population such as families, children, or the elderly. As clinicians, they focus on health promotion and disease prevention in their patients. NPs are health care providers that can prescribe medication, examine patients, order diagnostic tests, diagnose illnesses, and provide treatment, much like physicians do. Their experience first as working nurses gives them a unique approach to patient care, as generally they are the eyes and ears of the Physicians, who may only be present at a bedside for 5 minutes in a day. An NP’s advanced studies qualify them to take on additional duties that are usually left to physicians.

We have officially been able to confirm that we are Tier 2. For those checking affiliate physician list on Kaweah Compass, we are listed as individual providers, instead of under "Milestone Pediatrics". We will continue to provide any updates that we might receive, but otherwise, we are somewhat in the dark!
